The ICC chief executives unanimously agreed on Thursday to renew their Tours and Futures Programs (FTP) until 2023 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that has stopped the world.
The CCA meeting, held by conference call, decided that a decision on the World Test Championships and the proposed ODI league, scheduled for June, may be made at a later date.
“There was agreement that the discontinued FTP program would need to be collectively reviewed until 2023 in order to reschedule as much cricket as possible due to COVID-19,” the ICC said in a statement.
England’s tour of Sri Lanka has already been postponed along with Australia’s tour of New Zealand. Tours of Pakistan and the West Indies during the English summer also seem to have serious doubts.
It was also learned that contingency plans are being made for the T20 World Cup in Australia, scheduled for October and November.
“The CEC was updated on continuous contingency planning for all ICC world events, including the ICC Men’s T20 2020 World Cup and the ICC Women’s 2021 Cricket World Cup.
“Planning for both events as currently scheduled is ongoing.”
