IAS toppers Tina Dabi and Athar Khan file for divorce in Jaipur

Two years after the wedding, Tina Dabi, who led the examination of the Union Public Service Commission (batch of 2015), and her husband IAS Athar Khan filed for divorce by mutual consent in a family court in Jaipur.

Their relationship, which apparently began at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie and their subsequent wedding, caught the nation’s attention for more than one reason. While Tina was ranked first, Athar was ranked second. Many people hailed their wedding as a symbol of communal harmony. Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi had congratulated the IAS couple and tweeted: “May your love grow more and more and may you be an inspiration to all Indians in this era of growing intolerance and community hatred. God bless you.”

Venkaiah Naidu, Sumitra Mahajan, Ravi Shankar Prasad had attended their wedding reception in Delhi. There were three wedding receptions: the first in Jaipur, which was a simple court ceremony, the second in Pahalgam, and the third in Delhi.

Both Dabi and Athar were assigned to the IAS Rajasthan cadre. Also individually, both represent heights of achievement, as Tina Dabi was the first Dalit woman to head the UPSC exams. Athar, who is a year older than Tina, is from restless South Kashmir. Tina Dabhi is originally from Bhopal and her parents work for Engineering Services India. She studied Political Science at Lady Shri Ram College. Athar is a BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.

Initially, they were both in the same city, but Tina Dabi was later sent to Sri Ganganagar as the CEO of Zila Parishad. Athar was sent to Jaipur as CEO of Zila Parishad.
