In commendable dedication to duty, Modinagar Subdivisional Magistrate Saumya Pandey, who was appointed a Covid Nodal Officer in the Ghaziabad district in July, rejoined office fifteen days after giving birth, with her baby in tow.
Speaking to ANI, Pandey said: “I am an IAS officer, so I have to take care of my service. Due to Covid-19, there is a responsibility for everyone. God has given women the strength to give birth to and care for her child. In rural areas of India, women do their home and work related to their livelihood during pregnancy during the days around childbirth and after giving birth they take care of the child and also manage their work and home. Likewise, it’s a blessing from God that I can do my administrative work with my three-week-old daughter. “
“My family has been very supportive of me in this. The entire Tehsil and Ghaziabad district administration, which is like a family to me, supported me during pregnancy and postpartum. The district magistrate and administration staff supported me throughout my pregnancy and after delivery, ”she said.
The SDM said: “From July to September, I was the COVID Nodal officer in Ghaziabad. In September I took 22 days of leave during my operation. Two weeks after giving birth, I joined Tehsil ”.
“Every pregnant woman should take the necessary precautions while working during the COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.
