IAF set new record for highest skydiving landing at Khardungla Pass, Leh

On the occasion of its 88th anniversary on Thursday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) achieved a new record for the highest parachute landing at Khardungla Pass, Leh, at an altitude of 17,982 feet, breaking its own previous record.
A statement from the Defense Ministry said on Friday that Wing Commander Gajanad Yadava and Petty Officer AK Tiwari performed a successful parachute jump from a C-130J aircraft and landed at the Khardungla Pass, Leh, on October 8, 2020.
“Landing at such an altitude is extremely challenging due to the low oxygen levels combined with the low density of the air and the rugged and inhospitable terrain. Both Air Warriors have demonstrated excellent professionalism, determination and determination to overcome adverse conditions and achieve the great setting success – a new IAF record, “the statement read.
