An Indian Air Force helicopter made a preventive landing in an open field in Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh as part of an exercise this afternoon. The preventive landing was part of a routine training mission, the Air Force said.
Security agents cordoned off the open field area where the Dhruv Advance light helicopter landed. Large numbers of people have gathered to see the helicopter.
The helicopter was initially reported to have made an emergency landing, but later the Air Force clarified that the exercise was part of a routine training mission.
“An ALH Dhruv helicopter of the Indian Air Force on a routine training outing made a preventive landing in the rural areas of the Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh,” the Indian Air Force said in a statement.
The Indian Air Force is celebrating its 88th anniversary today when it will showcase its prowess and showcase its main fighter jets. A key highlight of this year is the newly introduced Rafale fighter jet to be unveiled.
A grand inauguration ceremony and parade was held at the Hindon Air Force Station near Delhi.
