I will leave politics if I cannot prove the corruption allegations: MK Stalin | India News

COIMBATORE: On Saturday, DMK Chairman MK Stalin promised to resign politics if you were unable to prove the corruption charges against Tamil nadu municipal administration minister SP Velumani.
Responding to Velumani’s challenge to prove the charges, Stalin said: “I am ready to leave politics. Are you (Velumani) ready?”
The head of DMK was addressing a gram sabha meeting in Devarayapuram in the Thondamuthur constituency represented by the minister.
Referring to the memorandum submitted by the DMK to the Governor last month listing the charges against Prime Minister E Palaniswami and his colleagues, Velumani had said that he would resign from his post if the charges were proven and was seeking to know whether Stalin was willing to leave politics if he did not.
“We will not only prove the charges against the minister, but we will also take him to the court of law and punish him for his corrupt acts …”, Stalin said.
Stalin promised to order an investigation into the late prime minister’s death J Jayalalithaa since the judicial commission constituted by the government he has not submitted his report even after three years, immediately after taking office.
DMK leader mocked AIADMK for announcing K Palaniswami As the top ministerial candidate as his alliance partner, the BJP was not yet backing him.
Although the state government had banned gram sabha gatherings, the party was holding popular gram sabha gatherings and praised the participation in large numbers as they had given DMK a huge mandate in the last Lok Sabha and local agency elections.
In reaction to Stalin’s comments, Velumani reiterated his determination to resign from all positions in the government and at AIADMK if the charges against him are proven.
Speaking to journalists at the ESI Hospital on the sidelines of a special camp for the Covid-19 vaccine trial, the local administration minister accused the head of DMK of filing corruption charges and smearing the image of the former as part of political revenge.
Velumani said he was ready to resign from the post of MLA, minister and party charges if convicted of corruption.
At the same time, he said, Stalin, who is spreading lies, should explain whether he is ready to resign from the party position and the position of leader of the opposition.
“Stalin has no right to speak out about corruption, and if he has the courage, he should accept my challenge and prove the charges,” Velumani said.
He condemned Stalin for allegedly asking his thugs to silence a Dalit woman, who raised questions about DMK’s alleged breach of his electoral promises, during the people’s gram sabha meeting organized at Thondamuthur in Coimbatore.
“It is not acceptable to attack a woman in my district and Stalin has to respond to this,” Velumani said.
Meanwhile, a video of the woman, who is said to be an AIADMK official who asked questions at the meeting and is also speaking to a minister by cell phone, went viral on social media.
The video allegedly shows a man handing him the phone and saying that the Minister was on the other end.
She narrated the incident saying that she had gone to a temple in the area and heard Stalin make unnecessary comments against Velumani. He added that because he couldn’t bear it, he started asking questions.
