PATNA (Bihar): Former Director General of Bihar Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey said on Wednesday that he would enter politics only if the people of his home district, Buxar, so wish.
“People have come to me in large numbers from Begusarai, Sitamarhi, Shahpur and various other districts, telling me that if I wish to enter politics, then I should participate in elections for their district. Buxar is my home district where I was born and brought up. up. It will be their decision. If they want, then I can enter politics, “Pandey told ANI.
“Criticism from political leaders is inevitable because I have no relatives in politics to take care of me. My family used to farm and raise cattle. Some people don’t find it acceptable, that’s why they say these things,” he added.
Reacting to the popular ‘Robinhood Bihar ke’ music video that recently spread on social media, Pandey said: “A fan made this video of mine to express his love for me. I had nothing to do with it, but I’m glad let them admire me. ”
Pandey resigned as DGP after his request for voluntary retirement was approved on Tuesday by the Bihar government, which waived a mandatory three-month reflection period.
Pandey is likely to run as a candidate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the sources said.
The election of 243 seats for the Assembly in Bihar is scheduled for October-November. The mandate of the current Assembly will end on November 29. The Electoral Commission has yet to take a final call on the election dates in Bihar due to the coronavirus pandemic.
