The officer confirmed that Raina was detained under articles 188 (disobedience to the duty of order promulgated by the public servant) and 269 (acts in a way that could spread an infection) among others. Since the sections could be bail, they were immediately released.
In the context of a new strain of coronavirus emerging in the UK, the Maharashtra government decided on Monday to impose a nightly curfew in all municipal areas of the state starting Tuesday night. The curfew will be in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until January 5.
