Former versatile Pakistani Abdul Razzaq has made a name for himself by making controversial statements. Last year it sparked controversy when he called Jasprit Bumrah a “bowler” compared to the fast bowlers of his day.
Bumrah today is the world’s top fast bowler in all formats, and Razzaq believes the Indian is on his way to becoming a world-class bowler. Razzaq said his statement was misinterpreted, but argued that the quality of bowlers when playing was far superior.

“I have nothing personal against Bumrah. I was simply comparing him to people like Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Curtly Ambrose, Shoaib Akhtar. It would have been much more difficult to face them. My comments were misinterpreted.
“He is heading to become a world-class bowler. But in our time, bowlers were of much higher caliber. Not many can argue with that, ”Razzaq told the Press Trust of India.
He also believes that the cricket standard has dropped now and he blamed the T20 cricket too much for this impact.
“You don’t feel the same pressure that the current pacemaker crop is facing. Overall, there is a bad patch on world cricket. We are not producing world class players like we used to do 10-15 years ago.
“You had Tendulkar, Zaheer, Sehwag, Ganguly on the same team. They would have entered any team. It may be too much T20 cricket is responsible for this decline, “he said.
