the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a body that groups together farmers’ unions, added that there is absolutely no chance of closing the door on talks with the government.
The SKM was reacting to the prime minister Narendra modiToday’s remarks at an all-party meeting in which he stressed that his government’s proposal to the unions still stands and that he is only a “phone call” away for talks.
“Farmers have come to the gates of Delhi to talk with their elected government and therefore it is not about farmers’ organizations closing the door on talks with the government,” Morcha said in a statement.
However, the morcha that will continue to seek the total repeal of the laws as well as a legal guarantee for the Minimum support price (MSP) system.
In a virtual address to the leaders of the political partners, the Prime Minister said today that the government’s offer to suspend agricultural laws for 12-18 months still stands.
