‘I shouldn’t have visited Kali Puja’: Shakib Al Hasan apologizes


Bangladesh’s star cricketer, Shakib Al Hasan, was forced to issue a humiliating apology after photographs of him attending a Kali Puja in Kolkata went viral on social media. He said that as a ‘conscientious Muslim man’, he would never do something like inaugurate a Kali Puja and profusely asked his fellow citizens for forgiveness for attending the event.

“I was on stage for just two minutes. People are talking about this and they thought I had inaugurated it, ”said Shakib Al Hasan during his apology. “I did not do this and being a conscientious Muslim I would not do this. But maybe he shouldn’t have gone there. I’m sorry for this and I apologize, ”he said. “As a practicing Muslim, I always try to follow religious customs. Please forgive me if I have done something wrong, ”added the cricketer.

Shakib Al Hasan receives death threats

A young Bangladeshi man named Mohsin Talukdar in Sylhet, Bangladesh, took to Facebook to threaten cricketer Shakib Al Hasan with hacking to death over accusations of launching a Kali Puja program in Kolkata, India. On Sunday, shortly after midnight, Mohsin posted on Facebook and threatened to hack Shakib to death.

On Monday morning, Mohsin reappeared on Facebook and apologized for threatening Shakib Al Hasan. He said that after offering Fajr’s prayers, he realized that threatening to kill someone was not right. “I apologize for that,” he said. Mohsin further added that he has prayed for Shakib’s salvation for launching the Kali Puja program. “I prayed that Allah can guide him. Although I said many things out of enthusiasm, it was not right. I apologize for that, ”he said.
