New Delhi: Union Interior Minister Amit Shah on Saturday criticized Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for his controversial comments in a recent letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Shah opined that Koshyari should have shown more restraint in the choice of words he used in the letter.

When asked about Governor Koshyari’s ‘secular’ comment to Uddhav Thackeray, Amit Shah replied: “I have read the letter. He has made a passing reference. However, I also think he should have been more moderate in choosing his words.. “

Bhagat Singh Koshyari had recently stoked a controversy when he wrote a letter to the CM of Maharashtra requesting the reopening of places of worship in the state. In the letter, the governor questioned the delay in reopening the temples and asked whether Uddhav Thackeray had “suddenly become secular.”

During his television interview, Amit Shah also shed light on the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the controversies that followed his sudden disappearance.

The Union Interior Minister stressed that if the Maharashtra government had been more careful in handling the investigation into the Bollywood actor’s death, no controversy would have arisen. The state government should have turned the matter over to the CBI from the beginning, Shah added.

“There must be a fair and neutral investigation in any case. It is not only true in Sushant’s case, all cases of unnatural death must be investigated with care and sensitivity,” said Amit Shah.

Shifting focus to the alleged threat of drugs in Bollywood, the Interior Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, it will be very difficult for people to spread drugs.

“We are making some infrastructure changes and will see them in the next few days. However, as far as Bollywood is concerned, it is not wise to connect it to a sector,” he added.
