Mumbai:

Actress Ankita Lokhande said on Wednesday that she never claimed Sushant Singh Rajput was “murdered” but wants “justice” for her “late friend” and family.

Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Bandra apartment in June. His death has caused much controversy in the media.

Ms. Lokhande, who met Rajput on the sets of the TV show “Pavitra Rishta” and dated him until 2016, had posted “Justice” on her Twitter wall after NCB arrested Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty .

Ms Chakraborty, who has been accused of being an accessory to the Rajput suicide by her family, was arrested Tuesday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drug case related to the late actor’s death.

Following Ms. Chakraborty’s arrest, Ms. Lokhande tweeted: “Nothing happens by chance, by fate. You create your own destiny with your actions. That is Karma.”

Now Ms Lokhande has opened up about her reasons for supporting the Rajput family while sharing a statement on her social media.

“I clarify it again, for the reason why the media ask me again and again if I feel that it is a murder or a suicide. I have never said that it is murder or that anyone in particular is responsible.

“I have always encouraged justice for my late friend SSR and have supported the grieving family and investigating agencies must bring out the truth,” Ms Lokhande wrote in her statement.

Calling herself a “Maharashtra and Indian citizen,” the actress said she has complete faith in the state government and central investigative agencies.

Ms. Lokhande also said that many people have insulted her, but she never responded to anything and came forward to talk about Mr. Rajput when they were together.

“I only appeared to narrate on SRH and his mental health until 2016,” he added.

Addressing his “enemies”, Ms Lokhande said that Ms Chakraborty was the closest person to the actor and that is why she should not have let him use drugs.

“When she knew very well about his mental state by publicly stating that he was in depression. Should I have allowed a depressed man to do drugs? How is that going to help?

“His condition would deteriorate to a level that would cause a man to take the measures that SSR supposedly took. She was the person closest to him at the time,” said Ms Lokhande.

The actor said that, on the one hand, Ms Chakraborty was coordinating with Mr Rajput’s doctors regarding his health problems, but on the other hand, she was “coordinating the logistics of medicines for him.”

“Would someone, who claims to have loved someone so deeply, allow the other person to use drugs claiming to know their mental state and condition? Would you do that? I don’t think anyone does. So how can you not be seen as a act of carelessness and irresponsibility? ”stated Ms Lokhande.

The actor also raised questions about why the Rajput family was not informed about his depression and drug problems.

“According to her, she informed her family about her ongoing treatment, but did she ever inform them about her drug use? I’m sure not because maybe she enjoyed using it herself. And that’s why I feel like it’s Karma / Destination, “he added.

Ms Lokhande said that she will continue to support the Rajput family, while calling on her enemies to maintain courtesy.
