Hyderabad floods: Delhi to donate 15 million rupees to Telangana, announces CM Arvind Kejriwal


As Hyderabad battles the floods, Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday expressed support for the ‘brothers and sisters’ in the capital Telangana and said his government will donate 15 million rupees to Telangana for its relief efforts. .

“The floods have wreaked havoc in Hyderabad. The people of Delhi support our brothers and sisters in Hyderabad in this hour of crisis. The Delhi government will donate 15 million rupees to the Telangana government for its relief efforts, ”Kejriwal, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tweeted.

Kejriwal’s announcement comes a day after his Tamil Nadu counterpart, Edappadi K Palaniswami, donated 10 million rupees to Telangana from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Tamil Nadu is also sending blankets and mats for the flood victims.

On October 13, the IT center was hit by one of its worst floods in recent times, the ripple effects of which are being felt even now. On Sunday, the city was hit once again by a nighttime rain. According to the Telangana government, at least 70 people have lost their lives due to flooding across the state, almost half of whom, 33, are from Hyderabad alone. Furthermore, in a press release, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said that a total of 37,409 families were affected due to the flooding in Hyderabad.

On Monday, Telangana Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced financial aid of Rs 10,000 for each family affected by the floods. It also announced Rs one lakh for those whose houses were completely destroyed and Rs 50,000 for those whose houses were partially destroyed. Rao also announced that his government will immediately release 550 million rupees to help those affected, especially the poor.
