Actress Priyanka Chopra spoke about the importance of giving back to society and using her platform as a ‘global icon’ at the 18th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Friday. She was joined in the virtual interaction by her husband, singer and actor Nick Jonas.
Priyanka said that from a very young age, she had realized the responsibility that had been given to her, as someone who could “influence” the masses. He said that while he doesn’t expect to change anyone’s opinion on certain topics, he can certainly try to educate them on matters close to his heart.
Speaking about her efforts to raise awareness about girls ‘education around the world, and her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she said: “My mother told me this when I was young:’ No matter how bad you are, someone more is worse than you. ‘ You just have to think about it every time you walk out the door. ”Priyanka and Nick were talking to Sonal Kalra (Managing Editor of Entertainment, Hindustan Times).

Instead of spending every day on paid jobs, we spend time trying to draw attention to something that people don’t pay attention to. That’s the power of the platform, and there are people who do it, and there are people who don’t. “
Priyanka said that half the world’s population is female, yet women do not hold many positions of authority in “government” and the “business sector.” “We are not given enough opportunities, we are not given enough rights,” he said.
Priyanka also spoke about the coronavirus pandemic and the impact the event had on her. “We very much recognized our privilege and recognized that we could stay in a space that would keep us safe,” he said. “We have the ability to stay in touch with our families, we have the ability to be quarantined. There are so many people in the world who don’t even have the space to do that, they don’t have the ability to go home, like the migrant workers we saw in India. “
