HSRP Free Vehicles, Color Coded Stickers for Ticket in Delhi – All You Need to Know

Delhi’s transport department launched a campaign on Tuesday to verify vehicles running without high security registration plate (HSRP) and color-coded fuel labels. During the trip, the authorities will impose fines on violators of up to Rs 10,000, which can be combined with Rs 5,500 under the amended Motor Vehicles Act.

As per the court and government order, the affixing of HSRP and color-coded fuel labels is mandatory in Delhi. Vehicles registered before April 1, 2019 must have the HSRP and decal installed, while new vehicles registered after the date come equipped with both. However, vehicles that have already applied for HSRP and color-coded decals will not be fined on condition of submitting the application form, which will be received after registration. As of now, this is applicable to Delhi registered vehicles only, other states are not included in this.

What is the HSRP license plate?

HSRPs are chrome-based hologram plates manufactured with a permanent identification number with the laser marking, which cannot be copied. These are manufactured by hot stamping on the license plates on both the front and rear.

How can you update your registration plates?

You can contact government authorized vehicle dealers. The lists are available on the website of the state departments of transportation. Or, you can book an appointment with your chosen dealer.

What are color coded fuel stickers?

Color-coded fuel stickers are intended to identify vehicles based on their fuel types. For example, vehicles that run on CNG or gasoline must put blue stickers. While diesel vehicles will have orange stickers.

The stickers also include details such as the registration number, registration authority, a laser marking PIN, and the vehicle’s engine and chassis numbers.
