NEW DELHI: Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharman on Thursday announced an increase of Rs 70,000 crore to accommodation sector by expanding the affordable housing subsidy scheme for the middle-income group.
The credit-linked subsidy scheme for the middle-income group with an annual income of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 18 lakh was put into operation from May 2017 and extended until March 2020.
She said the plan is being extended for one year to benefit 2.5 lakh middle-income families.
He also announced a special line of credit of Rs 5 billion for street vendors by providing working capital of up to Rs 10,000, he said he would add that this would support 50 lakh street vendors.
For farmers, he announced additional emergency working capital funding of Rs 30 billion through the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
NABARD will extend the additional refinancing support of Rs 30,000 crore to the crop loan requirement of rural cooperative banks and regional rural banks.
This, he said, would benefit 3 crore producers, mostly small and marginal.
