Honda H’ness CB350: 5 key retro-cruiser highlights

NEW DELHI: Honda two-wheelers have entered a new segment with the launch of the new H’ness CB 350.
The retro-cruiser, which aims to expand Honda’s Big Wing portfolio, is positioned as a unique offering in a not-so-exclusive segment.

Here are 5 things that make the H’ness CB350 stand out in a segment where it will compete against players like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Perak and the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor 350:
1. Timeless and unique looks:
Although the Honda H’ness is opposed to a number of Royal Enfield and Jawa motorcycles, it still has a very cool design language considering the fact that it is a retro-cruiser. The classic Honda CB DNA in motorcycle design is a risk worth taking in a country where Royal Enfield’s style language has long courted the market.
The character of the H’ness CB 350 stands out with its dominant handlebar front end. And the suspension and large wheels add a touch of confidence and dominance in the style language. The retro yet modern design is also greatly complemented by the first full LED package in its segment. The chrome dual horn also amplifies the premium and elite look of the motorcycle. The round headlight, circular dials and tanned leather bench seat signify a timeless design.

2. Main characteristics of the segment:
The cruise segment has hardly had anything exciting to offer in a long time. Honda ups the ante with the H’ness CB350, as the retro-cruiser comes with 9 new patent applications and 5 top-of-the-line features. In addition to the full LED package, the cruiser also offers the new Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) that helps maintain rear wheel traction.
The Honda Smartphone Voice Control (HSVC) function will offer a unique and pleasant driving experience. The HSVC function works via Bluetooth and will be offered as a standard function on the DLX Pro variant. The assisted and slipper clutch also adds to the smooth and comfortable driving experience, ensuring less fatigue throughout the journey. The advanced digital-analog speedometer presents intelligent information in real time.
3. Tailor-made for Indian roads:
The Honda H’ness CB 350 is designed specifically for Indian roads and that becomes its biggest advantage. The H’ness CB 350 is equipped with a tight handlebar that provides a good ergonomic posture to the rider, providing full control in any riding condition at the same time. The superior shock-absorbing dual seat ensures that rides are less tiring and the 15-liter fuel tank capacity ensures that the driver does not have to make many stops on long road trips.
The semi-duplex steel tube cradle frame provides the driver with a smooth steering feel and the low-position engine lowers the center of gravity for exceptional driving feel and maneuverability. A rigid box section steel tube is used for the swing arm to eliminate distortion and improve torque transmission.

4. Prioritized security
Dual channel ABS gives riders a feeling of confidence. The 310mm front disc and 240mm rear disc provide adequate braking performance ensuring rider safety. The large section front suspension enhances the image of the H’ness CB 350, while providing greater comfort on rough and uneven roads. The pressurized nitrogen-charged rear suspension offers responsive damping performance.
The 19-inch front tire and 18-inch 130 section rear tire give the motorcycle its roadster appearance along with increased stability and a lower stance. The tires, as claimed, offer better grip in various types of road conditions.

5. Classic CB DNA engine:
The Honda H’ness is powered by an air-cooled 350cc 4-stroke OHC single-cylinder engine equipped with PGM-FI technology. The motorcycle offers a maximum torque of 30 Nm and 20.8 hp.
The engine comes with a coaxial mainshaft balancer that eliminates primary and secondary vibrations. The off-center position of the cylinder reduces sliding friction and ensures minimal energy loss during combustion. The piston cooling jet improves the thermal efficiency of the engine, which improves fuel efficiency.
Now the expected price, according to the officials, will be around Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and the DLX variant around Rs 20,000 more expensive. H’ness CB 350, on paper, seeks to break the monotony of RE motorcycles on the market, pointing a cake to the 350cc cruiser segment. The showdown will begin this holiday season.
