The Indian Home Office has allowed 3,000 schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to begin evaluating Class 10 and Class 12 board response documents.
The approval came on Saturday following a request by the union’s human resources development ministry. Along with 3,000 schools, the home ministry said 16 regional central board offices can start operating while following the covid-19 guidelines.
The approval, however, prohibits schools from opening normal academic activities such as classroom instruction.
Human Resources Minister Ramesh Pokriyal said 3,000 CBSE-affiliated schools have been identified as assessment centers across India and special permission will be granted to these schools for the limited purpose of assessment.
“This will help us to quickly evaluate the answer sheets for Rs 2.5 million. The results will be declared after the remaining board reviews have been conducted (scheduled between July 1 and July 15, 2020), “the minister said.
India is looking to restart its new academic year in August-September after months of educational disruptions due to the results of the covid-19 and class 10 and 12 exams which play an important role in the start of the new academic calendar.
