Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the physical distribution of property cards under the ‘SVAMITVA’ (property) scheme via video conferencing, claiming it is a “historic move” aimed at transforming rural India. The move will pave the way for villagers to use the property as a financial asset to take out loans and other financial benefits.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has said that the launch will allow owners of a lakh to download their property cards via an SMS link sent to their mobile phones, and this would be followed by distribution physical property cards by the respective state governments. These beneficiaries come from 763 villages in six states, including 346 from Uttar Pradesh, 221 from Haryana, 100 from Maharashtra, 44 from Madhya Pradesh, 50 from Uttarakhand and two from Karnataka.
PM Modi interacted with many beneficiaries of the Village Survey and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme.
Recipients in all of these states, except Maharashtra, will receive physical copies of their property cards within one day, according to the statement. Maharashtra has a system to recover a nominal cost of property cards, so it will take a month.
‘SVAMITVA’ is a plan of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj that was launched by Modi on National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24. The plan aims to provide the ‘registration of rights’ to village home owners in rural areas and issue property cards.
It is being rolled out across the country in a phased manner over a four-year period (2020-2024) and would eventually cover around 6.62 lakh villages, according to the statement.
Speaking about agricultural reforms, Prime Minister Modi also attacked the opposition, saying that those whose policy was driven by brokers and intermediaries are spreading “lies” about his government’s reform measures and asserting that the country will not deviate from it. road. Farmers are not going with those who have opposed the “historic” reforms enacted by their government, he said.
Speaking on a program, Prime Minister Modi said his government has done more for the villages and their residents in the past six years than it has done in the previous six decades. In this context, he referred to a series of projects, including the opening of bank accounts, the construction of bathrooms and houses, the gas scheme for cooking and electrification. Those who ruled the country previously left rural India to their own devices, Modi said in a coup to Congress.
Many people don’t want villages, poor people, farmers and workers to be ‘aatmanirbhar’, the prime minister said, adding that his government’s measures to empower them, including direct transfer to farmers and others, have hit them hard. by cutting off your illegitimate source of income. Without naming the opposition, she said she is upset not by the farmers but by themselves, since for a long time it was strengthened by the power of intermediaries, brokers and commission agents. The people of the country have begun to destroy their web of deceptions, Modi said. Congress has opposed agricultural laws enacted by the government last month.
Parliament had previously passed the Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, the Farmers ‘Price Guarantee and Agricultural Services (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement, 2020 and the Farmers’ Draft Act. Essentials (Amendment) 2020 during the Monsoon Session. The prime minister said that his government is undertaking development without discrimination and with full transparency, and that everyone benefits from the schemes.
Keeping people in private villages has been the basis of some people’s politics. They wanted the problems of the villages and the people to continue for their purpose to be fulfilled, he said: “Those who looted the country are being recognized by the people. That is why they are indulging the opposition, speaking badly (of the government) and using foul language. They are not concerned about the poor, the peoples or the country. They are concerned about all the good work. They want to stop the development of the country, “said the prime minister.
This is the first time that a large-scale exercise involving the latest means of technology has been carried out to benefit millions of rural landowners, the PMO said in a statement. The prime minister will also interact with some of the beneficiaries during the event.
