Hindu temple demolished in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

AMRITSAR: An angry mob demolished a hindu temple in Karak district of Pakistanis Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on Wednesday.
According to sources, a Muslim cleric from Karak, who has the support of a militant group, allegedly incited local Muslims against the Hindu community and provoked them to demolish the temple.
A video that has gone viral on the Internet shows a large gathering of people demolishing the temple with hammers.
In the video you can see the mob throwing the belongings of the temple with smoke coming from a part of the building.
Ihtesham Afghan, a Pakistani human rights activist, called the incident “shameful” and said it “reflects the way Pakistan treats its minorities.”

Lal Chand Malhi, a member of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) National Assembly, called the demolition “an unfortunate incident”.
He said that he spoke to the senior Karak district police officers and asked them to file an FIR against the hooligans and take strict action against them.
“The police officers have assured me that they will arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible,” Malhi said.
Sources said the police identified a person named Maulana Sharif, but so far he has not been arrested.
The incident comes about fifteen days after the Pakistani government gave permission for the construction of the Sri Krishna temple in Islamabad, after the state-run Council of Islamic Ideology ruled that Islamic laws allow minorities to have your own religious place.
