The Himachal Pradesh government has made it mandatory for all teachers and staff to be present starting tomorrow, October 12, as the state government is preparing to fully reopen schools. Until now, only 50 percent of the staff had to be present as of September 12. All schools in the state were asked to host parent-teacher meetings October 15-17 to discuss ways to reopen the schools.
Will all schools reopen on October 15?
The Center has given states the green light to decide whether to reopen schools starting Oct. 15. In September, the Center allowed the schools to partially reopen, starting on September 21. But only a few states went ahead and reopened schools. This time, too, state governments are buying time before schools reopen. Since October 15 is not a mandatory date for all states to reopen schools, state governments are now consulting with stakeholders about reopening schools at a later date, early to mid-November.
Which states will reopen schools starting October 15?
It should be noted that Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir partially reopened schools as of September 21.
Uttarakhand is likely to reopen schools from October 15.
The government of Uttar Pradesh announced on Saturday the reopening of schools from October 19.

Gujarat: Schools are likely to reopen after Diwali.

Delhi: Schools will be closed until October 31.
Maharashtra: Schools should not open before Diwali.

Andhra Pradesh: Schools will not open before November 2.
