For the first time in his career, Mayank Agarwal has been named in all three formats of the Indian squad on an overseas tour. He earned his place on the Indian side T20I after an impeccable run in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Mayank had a massive 424 runs in 11 matches with a staggering 156.45 hit rate for Kings XI Punjab. Together with KL Rahul, he formed the most promising opening pair of the tournament.
Mayank could face stiff competition from KL Rahul, Shubman Gill for the starter spot in limited overs, but legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar thinks he’s a sure starter for Trials.
India is preparing to play a full series that includes three ODIs, starting on November 27, three T20I, starting on December 4, and four Trials, starting on December 17.

“I know, Mayank is a confirmed starter because he has scored great runs and if Rohit is fit and available then he should be there. Among other guys (Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul), that will be the decision of the management, as they would know who the man of the form is, ”Tendulkar said in an interview with the PTI.
Mayank impressed many when it made its debut for India the last time Virat Kohli’s men traveled to Australia.
Tendulkar also claimed that the Australian batting lineup is looking much better right now. He said: “Smith, (David) Warner and (Marnus) Labuschagne will be a factor and I am sure the Indian team will leave no stone unturned when it comes to preparations. These two seniors back on the team and also with Labuschangne there, makes for a much better hitting unit. It will be a slightly more competitive series and I am sure India is ready for it, ”said Tendulkar.
Like everyone else, Tendulkar also agreed that captain Virat Kohli’s absence from three test matches will create a void, but at the same time present an opportunity for someone else. Kohli will return after the first test for the birth of her first child.
“The fact that Virat is not there without a doubt is a great void, but also, on the other hand, the type of bench strength that we have and the talent that is available, is a good opportunity for someone to establish themselves,” he said. Tendulkar.
