The National Testing Agency launched the National Entry Eligibility Test (NEET 2020) on October 16 and this year’s All India rank 2 is run by Akanksha Singh. However, despite scoring a perfect 720 points, Soyeb Aftab has secured 1st place. This is due to NEET’s tiebreaker policy, in which the oldest candidate will take precedence over the youngest.

Although Akanksha belongs to the Kushinagar of Uttar Pradesh, however, to get a position in the medical school, he used to travel 70 km to his training institute in Gorakhpur. “I always wanted to be a doctor and study at the prestigious Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Since there was not a big training institute in my city, I have to travel for four hours to get to my institute in Gorakhpur. After passing class 10, I moved to Delhi for more than 2 and joined Aakash institute, ”he said.

After appearing for NEET, the 17-year-old was confident that he would earn around 700. “I studied 10-12 hours a day and followed my high school study material. Other than that, I also checked online classes from educational technology platforms. To get motivated, I watched the videos of the public speaker Sandeep Maheshwari. “Akanksha also followed the books by Anurag Mishra, IE Irodov for physics, Campbell for biology and drew on the NCERT books for chemistry.

Unlike many students who wanted to postpone the exam, Akanksha believes that the lockdown period gave her more time to review her grades, or else balancing the board exam with preparing for the entrance test was a chore.

It has made me realize the importance and responsibility of a health worker, ”he said.
