India vs Australia: Here's What Farokh Engineer Has To Say About Virat Kohli's Paternity Leave

Farokh Engineer, a former goalkeeper from India, has lashed out at fans who are trolling patron Virat Kohli, for taking paternity leave while touring Australia. The 32-year-old left the team after the day-night test against the Australians, to be with his wife Anushka Sharma, who will give birth in January. But Engineer thinks Kohli just made a personal decision.

“I don’t agree with that (troll Virat Kohli). Why would you troll someone? He has made the personal decision to be with his wife to have the first child, which is not too unfair to ask, ”the engineer told Sportskeeda.

The engineer went on to say that even if he were in a similar situation, he would have chosen to stay, but there is nothing wrong with what Kohli has done. “I have four children. I was not there for any of their births. He always played international cricket for India. The queen, in fact, gave me the message of the birth of my first child in Lord’s great room. So in my time it didn’t happen. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen now.

“But personally, I would have preferred to play for India, especially if India didn’t do so well in the first match. My thought would have been for my country. But I don’t blame Virat Kohli for being with her family. This is the modern trend. I think it’s just an age difference, “he added.

Many believed that it would be difficult for the Indians to do well without Kohli, after they were packed for 36 in the first test. But after that, under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, India staged a remarkable comeback to level the series 1-1 in Melbourne.
