PUBG Mobile banned in India
The Ministry of Information and Technology bans more Chinese apps, including the popular PUBG Mobile, in the country on Wednesday. This time, the government has banned 118 China-based apps. The apps are still available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
PUBG Mobile has millions of downloads and active users in the country and this represents a huge loss for Tencent, the parent company. The government of India has also banned the PUBG Lite app available on the Google Play store. Meanwhile, the desktop version of the PUBG game is still available in the country. PUBG Mobile has yet to comment on this.
The IT Ministry stated in an official press release that Chinese applications have been “banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Law, read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology Rules 2009 and , in view of the emerging nature of the threats, it has decided to block 118 mobile applications as, in view of the available information, they are engaged in activities that are detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defense of India, the state security and public order ”.

The statement further notes that the Ministry of IT has received many complaints from various sources about the misuse of some mobile applications available on Android and iOS platforms to steal and surreptitiously transmit user data in an unauthorized manner to servers that have locations. outside of India.

This is the second time that the Indian government has banned Chinese apps in the country. The first set of banned apps in India included 59 of them, followed by 47 more apps based in China. All of these apps have been removed from the Google Play store and the Apple app store.
The first 59 Chinese apps were banned on June 31. Here is the app list.

After these 59 applications, the government of India banned 47 more applications on July 28. These apps were mostly clones or lite versions of the already banned Chinese apps.
