India kicked off the fourth edition of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 today. The three-day event running until December 10, 2020 featured a host of dignitaries, including MeitY Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, President of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Minister of State for Communications, Education and Electronics and Information Technology, Sanjay Dhotre, among others, share their views on various facets of mobile technology in India.
The event also saw Reliance Industries President Mukesh Ambani sharing his views on the occasion.
These are the top five things the RIL president said while speaking at BMI 2020:
– During his speech, the President of RIL spoke about the digital transformation in India which plays an important role in keeping things running smoothly even during the Covid-19 lockdown.
“India prospered online … This underscores the phenomenal evolution of digital technology in India … Despite the lockdown, the entire industry, consisting of thousands of engineers and employees, worked around the clock to provide critical support 24×7 to all sectors of society and business. The government supported the industry to make an additional effort to keep the services running during this period, “he said.
– He also emphasized the importance of getting an affordable smartphone for disadvantaged people. “Up to 300 million mobile subscribers in India are still trapped in the 2G era … Urgent political steps are needed to ensure that these disadvantaged people have an affordable smartphone, so that they too can benefit from Direct Transfer of Benefits to their bank accounts, and actively participate in the Digital Economy ”, he added.
– Ambani also said that Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in 2021. “To maintain this leadership, political steps are needed to accelerate the early launch of 5G and make it affordable and available everywhere … I assure you, JIO will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021, “added RIL President.
– The president of RIL also said that 5G will also help India to participate in the fourth industrial revolution. “I can say with the utmost confidence that 5G will enable India not only to participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, but also to lead it … We are creating compelling national solutions in Education, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financial Services and New Trade … Every one of these solutions, once tested in India, will be offered to the rest of the world to address global challenges, ”he added.
– Finally, he said that the digitization of India will help the country to grow better. “As the digitization of the Indian economy and society accelerates, the demand for digital hardware will grow tremendously … many world leading companies are coming to India to establish manufacturing facilities. India has developed world-class strengths in chip design. I clearly anticipate that India will become an important hub for the cutting edge semiconductor industry, ”he added.
