No vaccine belongs to any political party, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir tweeted on Saturday in a message firmly addressed to Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav after he tried to politicize the vaccination campaign in India against COVID-19 saying he won’t shoot.

Abdullah said that he would gladly roll up his sleeves and receive the COVID vaccine. “I don’t know about anyone else, but when my turn comes, I will happily roll up my sleeves and get the COVID vaccine. This damn virus has been too disruptive and if a vaccine helps achieve a semblance of normalcy after all the chaos, then I sign up, ”he tweeted.

The leader of the National Conference, who posted the tweets hours after Yadav’s statement, said the more people get vaccinated, the better it will be for the country and the economy. “No vaccine belongs to any political party, they belong to humanity and the sooner vulnerable people are vaccinated, the better,” he added.

Former UP Prime Minister Akhilesh Yadav had called COVID-19 vaccines to be launched in the country as “BJP vaccine” and said he would not get the injection. “How can I trust the vaccine, which will be used for vaccination by the BJP? We cannot get vaccinated with the BJP vaccine, ”he told reporters in Lucknow.

His comments prompted an instant rebuttal from the BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh Senior Deputy Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who called the statement an “insult to the country’s doctors and scientists.”

“Akhilesh Yadav does not trust the vaccine and the people of Uttar Pradesh do not trust Akhilesh Yadav. The fact that it raises questions about the vaccine is an insult to the nation’s doctors and scientists. I should offer an apology, ”Maurya told reporters.
