Heavy rains to harm Kerala, IMD issues orange alert for many districts – India news


The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts of Kerala in view of heavy rains during the monsoon season on 26 June.

An ‘Orange Alert’ for Wayanad and Kozhikode districts has also been placed on 27 June. IMD’s Orange Alert is “getting ready” for rough weather.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted a monsoon hit in the national capital in the next 48 hours.

The southwest monsoon moved ahead in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the MeT department said on Tuesday that conditions were also favorable for the monsoon to progress, in the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Rajasthan in next 48 hours.

“From June 24 to 25, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over the western Himalayan region and the remaining parts of the plains of northwest India,” he said.

On Monday, IMD warned of the formation of a cyclonic circulation in north interior Odisha and neighboring areas. The IMD stated that the cyclonic circulation is very likely to move northwestwards during the next 3 days.

“Due to these characteristics, during the next 24 hours and throughout the Western Himalayan region, Haryana, Chand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and a few more parts of Uttarakhand are expected to move ahead with the monsoon. And Delhi, during sub-division in most parts of Punjab, Gujarat, MP and remaining parts of UP and parts of Rajasthan. 48 hours, “IMD tweeted forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall over South Peninsular India over the next four to five days.”
