Hyderabad witnessed heavy rain on Tuesday with heavy flooding and traffic jams in different areas, even as several other parts of the state reported similar weather conditions, which were triggered after a deep depression in the west-central Bay of Bengal, authorities said.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received heavy rains with provisional average rainfall of 64.4mm, according to official data from 8:30 am to 8 pm GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar urged those living in dilapidated buildings and sheds to vacate those premises in view of the rains. He said that temporary housing in community rooms would be provided to those without alternative housing.

Streams and other bodies of water abounded in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and the administration ordered officials to carry out immediate repairs to the roads wherever damage was reported. The Indian Department of Meteorology (IMD) issued a red alert and forecast heavy to very heavy rains in most places in Telangana through Wednesday morning.
