Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Janata Dal (United) MP Harivansh on being elected as vice president of the Rajya Sabha for a second term.
“I congratulate him on being elected for the second time,” said the prime minister, adding that Harivansh was an honest journalist and has great respect for his journalism.
The prime minister said that members of the House have shown the same respect for Harivansh as those who know him. Prime Minister Modi said the way he runs the House shows that he has earned the respect he demands.
“The House is being managed under very difficult circumstances due to the crown. But the Chamber continues to function and we have a duty to fulfill … I am sure that we will all be vigilant and maintain all the protocols to fulfill our responsibility, ”said the Prime Minister.

Commenting on Rajya Sabha’s conduct, the prime minister said that Harivansh had met all expectations. “Last time I said I was hopeful that just as Hari (Lord) belongs to everyone, Harivansh will also be fair to all sides … We have seen how it is more difficult for the referees than for the players to ensure that the games are played by the rules. It is a challenge to convince people to play by the rules and he has shown his resolve and has earned the trust of those who did not know him, “said Prime Minister Modi.
“Last year many bills were passed that changed the course of the country. This House set a new record for being the most productive even when it was an election year. It is a great source of pride that, in addition to productivity, positivity also grew in Rajya Sabha, ”he said.
The prime minister also touched on Harivansh’s roots and said he was punished for his origin.
“When you talk to those who are close to Harivansh, we realize why it is so ingrained. In his village, the school was held under a neem tree and that is where he studied. A person who sits on the ground understands the problems of the ground, ”said the prime minister.

He went on and added, “Someone told me once that once I went to high school, it was decided that I would buy a pair of shoes, before that I had no shoes. A villager who used to make shoes was asked to make one for him and Harivansh used to go to see the progress. You can guess why it was so ingrained and ingrained. “
The prime minister also spoke about how Harivansh was influenced by the books. “I also learned that when she got a government scholarship for the first time, her father expected me to bring her home, but he used that money to buy books. He bought all kinds of biographies and took them home. “
Harivansh has been doing his duty with honor. He has expressed his views vigorously on a variety of issues, the prime minister added.
“He has used his knowledge and experience to serve the country. On all international platforms he has ensured that India’s pride and stature grow, ”said the prime minister.
