Former Australian batsman Greg Chappell, who also served as India’s head coach from 2005 to 2007, said current Indian captain Virat Kohli is “one of the most influential players in world cricket” who is not afraid to express his views. .
“I think he is without a doubt one of the best players and one of the most influential players in world cricket right now,” Chappel told ‘Sydney Morning Herald’ according to PTI.

“He has strong opinions, he’s very happy to express those views, he’s very happy to come out and stand behind him to back up his words,” Chappell said.
The 72-year-old great Australian said it’s a good sign for test cricket that an influential player like Kohli enjoys playing the game’s longest format.
“He loves Test cricket and while playing in India he will treat Test cricket with respect because it has a great influence on Indian cricket. That’s a good thing, ”said Chappell.
Chappell also noted that as long as a captain like Virat Kohli leads in Trials, he will continue to be a force in the game’s longest format.
“If you have a captain from India who is not interested in test cricket, that will shock the scene. Virat loves test cricket, he is the test cricket champion and while that happens, India will play test cricket, ”he added.
Kohli, which took India to its first test series in Australia in 2018-19, will, however, only be available for the first of four test series. Kohli will fly home after the end of the day-night Test Match in Adelaide to be with his wife Anushka Sharma, who is ready to give birth to their first child.
