MS Dhoni could have retired from the Indian national team, but his legacy continues to be invoked. Speaking about the 150-run undefeated partnership that Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya put into the third ODI to achieve a comeback of epic proportions, Jadeja said that he followed the template set by his former captain of India and current captain of Chennai Super Kings.
“Mahi bhai has played a lot of cricket for India and Chennai (CSK). He always had an established pattern. He would go in and seek to build a partnership with the hitter. He always used to prepare and seek to play the big shots. He’s played in such situations so many times, ”Jadeja said in an interaction with Sony Sports Network after the game.
“Looking at him and given the fact that I’ve hit him so many times, he always used to tell me that if we can take him all the way, then we can score a lot of runs in the last four-five overs,” added Jadeja.
“It was the same situation and that’s what he tried to do today. Hardik and I were discussing what we can take chances in the last overs. The limit was smaller on one side, so that was the plan. “
The ‘plan’ worked perfectly on Wednesday.
Hardik Pandya (92 * out of 76 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (66 * out of 50 balls) put on a show in the final overs of India’s innings to bring the team’s score from 152/5 in 33 to 302/5 in 50 overs.
His unbeaten association of 150 races is the highest association in history for the sixth or lower wicket at ODI in Australia. It is also the sixth highest wicket association in the Indian and Australian ODIs.
