Bulgaddhi / Hathras:
In search of justice for the 19-year-old girl, relatives of Hathras’s victim spoke to reporters after two days when the media were able to enter her village.
“We want to know whose body was burned that day. And if it was our sister’s body, why did they burn her (the body) in this way? We all asked the police and the administration to allow us to see her last time. “Said the victim’s brother after the media could enter the village and speak with the victim’s family.
“Also, when we asked for the post mortem report, they said you won’t understand it because you can’t read it in English,” the brother told ANI.
According to a family source, although the SIT investigation was ongoing, the team did not visit their home or speak to them yesterday. They had talked to them before. The SIT team spoke with other people in town yesterday.
The family complained that they have not been allowed to leave the house for the past two days and there is a constant presence of police personnel in the house all the time.
“We were not allowed to leave our house for the last two days. We are still afraid,” the brother reported.
“We asked the police to leave us some privacy. They were in the house all the time. Administrative officers used to come in and ask us to show our phone. This was the only communication we had with the outside world in the last two days,” added the victim’s brother.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday to investigate the Hathras incident.
The SIT team has been talking to other villagers after they completed their investigation with the family.
Another family member said: “The ‘adhikari of the village’ are putting pressure on us to solve the case. However, all we want is justice.”
“The restriction on media within the village has been lifted. Only media is allowed at this time. However, more than five people from the media are unable to meet as section 144 of the CrPC it is in force, “said Sadar Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Prem Prakash Meena.
The media have been banned from entering the village for the past two days, leading to confusion. Yesterday, Hathras’ additional SP, Prakash Kumar, said that “the restriction on media entry into the village will remain until SIT completes its investigation there.”
The government has provided the family with an amount of 25 lakh rupees, a house, a government service in group C category. The family’s demand to hear the case in a fast track court and an SIT investigation was also accepted. .
Hathras’s victim died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The post-mortem report indicated that the victim suffered a fracture of the “C6 cervical vertebra” and there were “extravasations of blood along the fracture line” and the underlying spinal cord was “bruised with ascending edema”. However, the violation is not mentioned in the report.
All four defendants in the incident have been arrested.
