LUCKNOW / HATHRAS: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Saturday it recommended a CBI investigation into the alleged gang rape and death of a 19-year-old Dalit woman, sparking outrage across the country.
The decision was announced by the Chief Minister’s Office minutes after Congressional leaders Rahul gandhi Y Priyanka gandhi Vadra ended his visit to the home of the victim’s family in a village in Hathras district.

Hours earlier, Awanish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary of Additional UP (Home), and the Director General of Police, HC Awasthi, had also traveled from Lucknow to meet the family.
The authorities also allowed the media to enter the town, lifting previously imposed restrictions.
“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the IWC to carry out an investigation into the entire Hathras episode,” the CM Office said, and his tweet capped a day of protests and criticism over the handling of the case by the CM. BJP government in the state. .

Later, Adityanath said that the state government is seeking an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate all aspects related to the Hathras episode.

The Dalit teenager died from her serious injuries in the early hours of Tuesday in a Delhi hospital, 15 days after she was attacked.
She was cremated in the middle of the night near her home on Wednesday. Her family alleged that the local police forced them to hastily perform their last rites.

Earlier, BSP Chairman Mayawati had demanded a CBI or Supreme Court-supervised investigation into the Hathras episode.
