LUCK: The safety of the family of the Dalit woman who died 15 days after allegedly being Hathras district has been reinforced and his brother has received two gunners, a Uttar Pradesh government official said Monday.
“Security has been strengthened around the victim’s home in Hathras and members of his family have also received security,” Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi told PTI.
In the village, between 12 and 15 PAC staff have been deployed for “24-hour family security”. Hathras Police he said, adding that two security men have been deployed for the brother.
Elaborate security has been ensured to avoid any tension in the area, they said.
In addition to the agents, three SHOs and an SP rank deputy officer have been deployed, they added.
Policewomen have also been deployed there for 24-hour security in the village, plus magistrates are also there to monitor the situation, police said.
A 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped by four upper caste men in Hathras on September 14. She died on September 29 at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi during treatment.
The victim was cremated in the dead of night near his home on September 30. Her family alleged that the local police forced them to hastily perform their last rites. However, local police officers said the cremation was carried out “according to the wishes of the family.”
The state government has already recommended an IWC investigation into the matter and, citing FSL reports, has denied the rape charge.
