NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday and ordered him to take strict action against those guilty of the tragic case of Hathras gang rape.
A tweet from Uttar Pradesh’s head of government, Yogi Adityanath, confirmed that Prime Minister Modi spoke about the shocking incident.

Previously, CM Yogi Adityanath formed a three-member SIT to investigate the Hathras gang rape incident that has sparked outrage. A senior government official said the Chief Minister has also called for the trial of the case to be held in a fast track court.

प्रकरण की जांच हेतु विशेष जांच दल का गठन किया गया है। यह दल आगामी सात दिवस में अपनी रिपोर्ट देगा।
त्वरित न्याय सुनिश्चित करने हेतु इस प्रकरण का मुकदमा फास्ट ट्रैक कोर्ट में चलेगा।

The 19-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped by four upper caste men in a village in the Hathras district two weeks ago. She died from her serious injuries in a Delhi hospital on Tuesday, sparking outrage, protests and calls for justice.
The official said Interior Secretary Bhagwan Swarup will lead the SIT and DIG, Chandraprakash, and Agra PAC Commander Poonam will be its members. SIT has been asked to present its report in seven days.

The woman was gang-raped on September 14, after which she was admitted to JN Medical College Hospital in Aligarh with serious injuries.
She was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on Monday after her condition showed no signs of improvement.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh police cremated the girl’s body around 2:30 am Wednesday despite strong protests from family members.
The victim’s family said police forcefully performed the last rites on the 19-year-old gangrape victim despite strong protests from them.
Family members said the police did not allow them to take the victim’s body home for the last time.
Members of the Hathras gang rape community are protesting in the city demanding justice for her. The protesters also launched slogans against the police and local administration.
