SIT asks the medical team to visit the victim’s residence

The victim’s father, claiming illness, had refused to give a statement to the SIT yesterday (October 3) at night. Subsequently, the SIT asked the administration to hire a medical team to monitor it. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Hathras said SIT had called in the medical team after the woman’s father fell ill. “They checked his blood pressure and other vital signs, but they did not test him for coronavirus.”

It should be noted that, based on the preliminary report presented by the SIT, the UP government has already suspended the Hathras Police Superintendent (SP), the DSP and three other police officers for mishandling the case. His narcoanalysis tests have been recommended.

CBI probe recommended by CM

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday also recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the case based on the SIT’s findings. The announcement came amid national outrage, with protests by some parts of opposition parties and members of civil society against the state government for the deterioration of law and order in the state.

The incident

The 19-year-old Dalit breathed her last in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on September 29. She was transferred there from the Aligarh Muslim University School of Medicine, where she was admitted after being gang-raped and assaulted by four “upper caste” men. All the accused have been arrested.
