Chandigarh:
Schools in Haryana will reopen for students in classes 3-5 beginning Wednesday, according to an order issued today by the Department of School Education.
The department issued orders for the reopening of government and private elementary schools in the state after they were closed for nearly a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He said that schools in the state can operate from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Students who wish to take classes online, as has been the case for the last 10 months, can continue to do so.
The necessary protocols established by the government on COVID-19 will be followed. Schools have been asked to check the temperature of students and teachers before entering campus, and those showing high temperatures will be denied entry.
Haryana schools reopened for senior classes in December of last year, while students in classes 6 to 8 were able to attend from February 1 of this year. Schools have been asked to follow guidelines related to masks, disinfectants, and social distancing.
Each school will be divided into three wings. If a student in one wing is determined to be COVID-19 positive, that wing will be closed for 10 days and the entire school will be disinfected, according to an official statement. If students in more than one wing are determined to be COVID-19 positive, the entire school will be closed for 10 days, he said.
Haryana recorded 106 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing her count to 2,69,836. The death count was unchanged at 3,042 as no new deaths were reported, according to a bulletin from the state health department.
