CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief deputy minister Dushyant Chautala on Thursday he said new central agricultural laws need many amendments and urged to protest farmers to give “concrete suggestions”.
Leader of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) reiterated that he will submit his resignation on the day he feels he cannot guarantee a minimum price support (MSP) to Haryana farmers.
Addressing a press conference here, the deputy minister said: “I think there should be many amendments. On this, we have given many suggestions to the Center before and they also agreed with many suggestions. ”
“I think the Center is ready to incorporate those amendments,” he added.
At another point in the briefing, Chautala said that the Center was repeatedly inviting farmers’ unions for talks and that it was the responsibility of these teams to give “concrete suggestions” on their demands.
He hoped that protesting farmers would resume dialogue with the Center to resolve their concerns about the three new laws.
“When the Center is ready for talks, farmers’ unions that have had six rounds of talks before should come forward. No agitation has ended without talks,” he said.
“I think the increased demand for Arhitiyas (commission agents) is also that in the open market and in mandis, taxes should be on par. If that happens, our marketing board and mandis will prosper as they have been happening. And if the Center is willing to give written guarantees on the PEM, I believe that the greatest demand of the farmers is met, “he said in response to a question.
To another question about the opposition and a section of farmers urging the JJP to withdraw support for the state government ML Khattar, Chautala said: “There is no pressure. We are running the government in a very stable way.”
