Manchester United were humiliated 6-1 by unbridled Tottenham Hotspur when José Mourinho made a dream comeback at Old Trafford. Manchester United were in chaos behind, especially the world’s most expensive captain and defender, Harry Maguire. The Manchester United boss was all over the place, possibly still thinking about his problems off the field. The dire defense was not limited to Maguire as teammate Eric Bailly was just as bad in the game. However, one incident stood out during the match. With Manchester United leading 1-0, Maguire appeared to knock down fellow defensive player Luke Shaw in the box as he tried to clear the ball. The result was that Tanguy Ndombele broke the fumble and outplayed David de Gea from close range to give Tottenham the equalizer.

The defeat was Manchester United’s worst since 2011. Manchester United had a man sent off and Anthony Martial received a red card in the first half, it may be wrong. But even before being sent off, United’s defense was at six-seven with Maguire the biggest risk.
Manchester United spent around £ 80 million on Leicester City in 2017 to obtain Maguire’s services, a world record for a defender, but the center-back has done little to return it.
Son Heung-min and Harry Kane had a field day against Manchester United on Sunday, both bagging a double and Spurs finishing sixth in the Premier League table.

After the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said it was “the worst day I’ve ever had as Manchester United manager” but that he could have more of the same if United continue to defend as they did against Spurs.
After three games played this season, Manchester United have already lost two, winning one and languishing in 16th place in the table.
