Actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, interior designer Gauri Khan, are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Their marriage, which has been rock solid despite media gazes and punished filming schedules, is proof that romance is not dead.

When Shah Rukh was shown a photo from his honeymoon in the Hindustan Times Most Stylish 2019, he revealed how he had ‘cheated on’ Gauri. “When I got married, I was very poor while Gauri was middle class, well off. So, as is often the case with everyone, I had promised her that after we were married, ‘I will take you to Paris and show you the Eiffel Tower.’ But obviously, it was all a lie because I didn’t have the money or the plane tickets, but somehow I convinced her. I tricked her into thinking that I would take her to Paris and I took her to Darjeeling, ”he joked.
Shah Rukh met Gauri at a party when they were teenagers and they soon fell in love. They briefly separated due to her possessiveness and she went on vacation to Mumbai. He landed in the city with his friends to woo her and they went to all the beaches to look for her, since he knew she loved to swim. Fortunately, he found her on the last beach he went to, and they had a pretty shady meeting.

Shah Rukh and Gauri were married on October 25, 1991 and are the parents of three children: Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. The whole family is currently in Dubai for the current Indian Premier League (IPL). Shah Rukh is the co-owner of the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders team.
On the work front, Shah Rukh was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero. He has not announced his next acting project yet, but he has been busy with his production projects. Meanwhile, Gauri will soon become an author with a coffee table book tentatively titled My Life in Design. The book, due out next year, will share details of her journey as an interior designer and feature never-before-seen images of her projects, family and home.
