One of 17 Lok Sabha MPs who tested positive for the coronavirus before the monsoon session of parliament began on Monday has shared a conflicting test report on Twitter. Hanuman Beniwal, a Rajasthan MP, after being ruled out of the session, said a second test in Jaipur came back “negative”. “Which report should be considered accurate?” he tweeted, posting both reports.
“I was tested for COVID-19 at the Lok Sabha facility and I was declared positive. Then I was tested at the Jaipur SMS Medical Service and the report said I am negative. Which report should be considered accurate?” He tweeted in Hindi along with images of the two medical documents.

The monsoon session began today with several strict rules to prevent the transmission of the virus between parliamentarians. No deputy or official will be able to attend the session without a new “negative” report of the coronavirus.
Seventeen MPs from the lower house of parliament and eight from Rajya Sabha tested positive.
Among the infected Lok Sabha MPs, the BJP has the maximum number: 12. The YSR Congress has two MPs, Shiv Sena, DMK and RLP one each.
Sources said that in total, 56 people tested positive during RT-PCR tests conducted in the parliament complex on September 12. The figure includes officials, journalists and parliamentarians.
A larger number of MPs attended the session today despite the COVID-19 scare, Lok Sabha Chairman Om Birla said. “It shows how strong the roots of democracy are,” he told NDTV.
India is the second most affected country in the world. The country reported 92,071 cases in one day today, pushing its total count past the 48 lakh mark.
