Agartala:

Tripura’s chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb, has said that the BJP government in the northeastern state would remain in power for the next three decades if 80 percent of the houses post photos of Swami Vivekananda and his message.

Mr. Deb, addressing members of the BJP Mahila Morcha, the party’s women’s wing, asked the activists to spread Swami Vivekananda’s message and distribute his photos to inspire the people of the state.

“I have seen, even in my village, people hanging pictures of communist leaders – Jyoti Basu, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong – in their halls. Couldn’t we hang pictures of Swami Vivekananda? Our party will keep our ideologies and sanskars (values) – yes 80 percent of Tripura houses hang photos of Swami Vivekananda, so this government will remain for another 30-35 years, “Deb said Wednesday.

“Swami Vivekananda said talk less, keep quiet and focus on work. Our energy is wasted if we talk a lot. Therefore, we should not waste our energy,” said Biplab Deb.

He asked the mahila morcha activists to highlight Indian culture, Sanskriti among the people.

Earlier in August, Mr. Deb had distributed books on Swami Vivekananda to COVID-19 patients to keep them mentally strong and motivated.

Later, speaking about the different development activities of the BJP-IPFT government, the prime minister said that his government has increased the amount of different social pensions, the salary of government employees, the monthly allowances of the panchayat pradhans of the village and its deputies, introduced the electronic public distribution system, Ayushman Tripura Health Plan, increased the allocation of funds for the relief of the MLA fund.

He also said: “There is a difference between taking the initiative and its implementation. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took the initiative to introduce the three-tier panchayat system, but the results started during the regime of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayees. And afterwards As Narendra Modi ji came to power, he decided to give a fund of Rs 80 lakh directly to the village panchayats to strengthen them. “
