After Noida, authorities in Gurgaon and Faridabad began random testing of people entering the city from Delhi, which is struggling with the worst phase of the COVID-19 pandemic so far, with cases and deaths reaching record levels.
Travelers are being randomly screened across the Delhi-Gurgaon borders and the administration says the exercise will help them identify the areas that are hit the hardest. So far they have examined more than 400 people at the border and have found three positive cases.
“We have set up six camps on the Gurgaon borders for random sampling. No one is being forced. Shopping malls, markets, bus drivers and drivers are also being covered. The aim is to identify infected people as soon as possible so that the virus is not spreading, “Dr. Virender Yadav, Gurgaon’s chief medical officer, told NDTV.
