Vadodara:
Gujarat’s chief minister, Vijay Rupani, collapsed on stage Sunday while addressing a rally for the upcoming civic elections in the Nizampura area of Vadodara, BJP leaders said.
Mr. Rupani received first aid on stage. He was later seen walking down the stage stairs on his own.
This was Rupani’s third political rally during the day in Vadodara.
“The prime minister collapsed while on his way to the public meeting. His security guards caught him when he fell. They gave him first aid and took him to the airport from where he will go to a hospital in Ahmedabad,” said BJP leader Bharat . Danger told a news channel.
“Rupani’s health was not adequate for the last two days, but instead of canceling his public meetings held in Jamnagar on Saturday and in Vadodara on Sunday, he preferred to move on,” Danger said, adding that Rupani is fine now.
Elections for six municipal corporations, including Vadodara, will be held on February 21, while those for municipalities, districts and taluka panchayats will take place on February 28.
