Minecraft has been with us for over a decade, but now we need to consider what it will look like in the next generation!
Minecraft is one of the most successful gaming franchises the world has ever seen, and has come a long way since its PC launch in 2011.
The open world of sandbox has powered a generation of gamers to create, recreate, and explore every aspect of the game.
But with next-gen consoles slated for later this year, what can PlayStation users expect from Microsoft’s IP?
It’s hard to imagine that the original graphic style will be abandoned for something new, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

How will it look?
Thanks to ray tracing technology, Minecraft will have a whole new look on the PS5.

Even with its basic and pixelated textures, the PS4’s new ray tracing features will make Minecraft look flawless (if we actually get a PS5 edition).

Now, while switching to the next generation will give Minecraft a significant shine, there will be gamers who choose to use the backward compatibility feature and the PS4 version.
Of course, this version will be perfectly playable, but it will not have the graphic update that we have discussed.
Is it really coming to PS5?
Don’t worry too much about the PS5 edition as Minecraft finally made it to PS4 after PC and Xbox.
The PS4 edition of the game allowed for cross play and cohesion, but will the PS5 edition receive the same treatment?
It’s hard to say, but seeing that Minecraft is a Microsoft IP, you’re likely to expect a PS5 edition for a while.

At least, until the Xbox Series X launches in the 2020 “vacation” period.
However, thanks to backward compatibility, you will still be able to load the PS4 edition and enjoy Minecraft on the PS5.
Minecraft dungeons
Minecraft Dungeons will launch on May 26, which is well in advance of the PlayStation 5 release date.
Thanks to backward compatibility on PS5, you can buy the game for PS4 and still enjoy it on PS5.
