Granddaughter of BJP MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi dies of burns suffered on Diwali

The granddaughter of Bharatiya Janata Party deputy Rita Bahuguna Joshi died after being severely burned on Diwali night. The six-year-old girl’s clothes reportedly caught fire while she was playing with oil lamps together with other children.

According to a news report, she was rushed to a private hospital with 60 percent burns Monday night. She passed away early Tuesday morning before being flown to Delhi for further treatment. She was the only daughter of Joshi’s son, Mayank.

Joshi is a Lok Sabha deputy from Prayagraj. She previously served as a minister in the state cabinet.
