NEW DELHI: The Center appears to be taking advantage of the schemes of the PSU (public sector units) to project its development plan before the state elections in Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two IndianOil and one Hindustan Petroleum projects on Sunday.
Energy Minister RK Singh launched a series of community-focused projects for the major NTPC on Saturday. The Prime Minister will open two LPG bottling plants in Banka and Harsidih in East Champaran, as well as a 193km LPG pipeline to increase LPG supply to Bihar from Durgapur in west bengal. CM Nitish Kumar and CM Deputy Sushil Kumar Modi will be present at the virtual event.
IndianOil’s Banka LPG bottling plant will serve consumers in Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar in Bihar together with Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Sahibganj and Pakur in Jharkhand. Hindustan Petroleum’s Harsidih plant will serve East Champaran, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Districts of Siwan, Gopalganj and Sitamarhi.
The plants are expected to generate direct and indirect job opportunities in Bihar, according to a government statement.
