High-level teams from the central government have quickly moved to four more states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh – to help state governments address the Covid-19 situation.
All four states have reported an increase in the number of active cases or have shown an increase in new cases daily, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
“These three-member teams will visit districts reporting high numbers of COVID-19 cases and support state efforts to strengthen containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, and efficient clinical management of positive cases. The central teams should also guide in the effective management of challenges related to timely diagnosis and follow-up, “the Center said in a statement.
Days ago, the Modi government had sent high-level teams to Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Manipur and Chhattisgarh to reduce the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.
“With the increase in daily new cases and the increase in daily deaths in Delhi UT, the spillover effect is being observed in the NCR regions within Haryana and Rajasthan states, where the number of COVID positive patients is increasing, “the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases in India rose more than 90.95 lakh after the country reported 45,209 new Covid-19 positive patients in the past 24 hours. With an increase of 45,209 new Covid cases, the country’s number of cases has risen to 90,95,807, data from the Health Ministry showed on Sunday.
Up to 501 people succumbed to the deadly virus in a span of 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1.33,227.
The total number of active cases in the country now stands at 4,40,962. According to data from the Ministry of Health, so far 85,21,617 patients have been discharged with 43,493 new discharges in a single day.
